Thank you for your interest in joining the JAA; this is a positive move for you and your business. Since 1931, the JAA has nurtured, promoted and protected hundreds of individuals, companies and families across Australia to embrace their passion of jewellery and desire for high achievement to create successful and rewarding businesses.

To join, simply follow these easy steps. First, determine your membership category below - either general or associate and click on the button to move through to the application form.




A person or company will only be eligible for admission as a General Member if that person or company derives at least the majority of its income or turnover from the jewellery industry (including fashion jewellery) and that person or company is domiciled in Australia. 

Other requirements include:

  • Person or Company has an Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • Person or Company has been trading in the jewellery industry in Australia for a minimum of 12 months or have relevant industry experience
  • Be nominated by a current member of the JAA who you trade with; they will be asked a series of questions about the current business relationship. Alternatively, provide two references from companies you trade with that are not JAA members.



This category includes students, retirees, provisional members (new businesses to the jewellery industry), education providers (RTO - see below*) and other jewellery industry associations. 

Other requirements may include:

  • Person or Company has an Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • Person or Company has been trading in the jewellery industry in Australia for a minimum of 12 months or have relevant industry experience
  • Be nominated by a current member of the JAA who you trade with; they will be asked a series of questions about the current business relationship. Alternatively, provide two references from companies you trade with that are not JAA members.

Associate Members are ineligible to vote. A company applying for membership through the Buying Group Member Scheme will only be eligible for admission as an Associate Member. 

*Students must be studying in a jewellery related course at TAFE or university.
