JAA ANNOUNCES BOARD UPDATE FOLLOWING AGM

7 April 2026

The Jewellers Association of Australia (JAA) has confirmed several Board updates following its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and subsequent Board meeting.

The JAA is pleased to announce the appointment of Anna Hakman as a co-opted Director to the Board.

Anna is a highly experienced governance and strategy professional with more than 25 years’ experience across the public and private sectors, including senior roles within major institutions. She brings deep expertise in governance, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement. She is a trusted advisor to boards and executive leadership teams.

Her experience working across complex, multi-stakeholder environments and her focus on strengthening governance frameworks, transparency and organisational performance will provide valuable perspective to the JAA Board.

JAA President, Joshua Sharp, welcomed the appointment, saying “Anna brings a depth of governance and strategic experience that will significantly strengthen the Board. Her ability to navigate complex environments and provide clear, risk-aware guidance aligns strongly with the JAA’s priorities as we continue to evolve and deliver value for members and industry.”

The Association also acknowledges the contribution of Mary Storch and Stephen Schneider, who will not be continuing on the Board due to personal reasons.

Both Mary and Stephen have made valued contributions during their time as Directors, bringing industry insight, professionalism and a strong commitment to supporting members and the broader jewellery sector.

Mr Sharp said “On behalf of the Board, I would like to sincerely thank Mary and Stephen for their contribution, commitment and service to the JAA. Their input has been greatly valued, and we wish them both all the very best for the future.”

At the AGM, members approved a constitutional amendment relating to Board leadership tenure. Under the revised Constitution, the roles of President and Vice President will be limited to a maximum of four years in each position.

The JAA remains focused on representing and supporting the Australian jewellery industry and working constructively with members and stakeholders.

Current JAA Board Directors include:

Joshua Sharp (President), Ian Sharp Jewellery
Ronnie Bauer (Vice President), Klepners
Daniel Anania (Treasurer), Anania Jewellers
Lindsay Kotzman, Director
Anna Hakman, Director
