Clare Van Rossen: Creating stories in gold
2025 JAA Australasian Jewellery Awards | Debuting Award Winner
For nearly ten years, Clare has been immersed in the world of jewellery a place where creativity, craftsmanship, and emotion all come together. What began as a fascination for the artistry behind fine jewellery eventually her me to pursue an apprenticeship as a jeweller three and a half years ago. Since then, every day at the bench has deepened her appreciation for the skill, patience, and imagination this craft demands. Today, Clare is proud to be part of Martin Rogers Jewellery, a name built on quality, artistry, and genuine connection. Working alongside such a talented and passionate team has shaped her into the jeweller she is today, and it’s been an honour to contribute to a brand that values creativity as much as precision. What Clare loves most about jewellery is how deeply personal it is. Every piece carries a story a memory, a milestone, or a message of love. The beauty of this work lies in its individuality; no two creations are ever the same. Being able to craft something meaningful that will be treasured for generations is an incredibly fulfilling experience. | ![]() Image: Clare Van Rossen (centre) |
When it comes to design, Clare likes to let the stones speak first. Each gem has its own energy and character, and she aims to create designs that complement and elevate their natural beauty. Her inspiration often comes from nature the soft curves of leaves, the symmetry of flowers, and the textures found in the landscape around us. These subtle details remind her that true elegance lies in harmony and balance.
Entering the JAA Australasian Jewellery Awards was a decision born from a desire to challenge myself. Clare wanted to push the boundaries of her creativity, refine techniques she doesn’t always use in day-to-day work, and see how her designs would stand among some of the best in the industry.
Winning this award has been such an incredible honour and a truly affirming moment in her journey as a jeweller. It shines a beautiful light on the dedication, creativity, and craftsmanship that define our team at Martin Rogers Jewellery qualities our clients have always valued and trusted. More than anything, this recognition feels like a celebration of the passion and hard work that goes into every piece we create. It’s a reminder of how far Clare has come personally, and of the collective artistry that makes our workshop such a special place to be.
For anyone who’s thinking about entering the Awards but isn’t quite sure Clare’s advice is simple: just do it. It’s a challenging process, but one that will push you to grow in ways you never expected. And if you’re lucky enough to win, it’s an experience that will stay with you forever a proud reminder of your craft, your courage, and your creativity.
Jewellery isn’t just about metal and gemstones it’s about emotion, connection, and legacy. And being part of that story, every day is, without a doubt, the greatest reward of all.
