STATEMENT REGARDING 'SUPPLIER SUB-COMMITTEE'

30 January 2026

This statement may only be reproduced or copied in its entirety.

In early 2025, the Jewellers Association of Australia (JAA) convened an initial informal meeting with a number of jewellery trade suppliers to discuss issues affecting the supplier sector of the industry.

Following this discussion, and in response to feedback from suppliers seeking an opportunity for further dialogue, the JAA established a 'Supplier Sub-Committee' as an informal working group. Its purpose was to provide a forum for discussion, information-sharing and consideration of matters raised, and to assist the JAA in understanding supplier perspectives within the broader industry context.

Participants included Joshua Sharp (JAA President), Jacinta Collins, Phil Edwards, Steve Der Bedrossian, and Mitul Mehta.

The group was not a formally constituted committee of the JAA, nor did it have decision-making authority. It was established as a consultative mechanism only and did not adopt, endorse or publish any findings or positions on behalf of the JAA.

The JAA remains committed to engaging constructively with all sectors of the jewellery industry where it is productive and aligned with the Association’s role and responsibilities.
