Jewellery Designer & Sales

Friday, 23rd August 2019  Melbourne

Are you passionate about high quality fine jewellery and personal service?
Do you like being involved with the customer from start to finish?
Is a supportive, friendly and fun team environment important to you?
If so, this might be the job for you!

Larsen Jewellery was established twelve years ago with a vision of providing customers direct access to a fine jewellery workshop, offering a combination of exquisite workmanship and personal service. Since establishing the business, we have grown steadily and now have 25 staff across our two studios in Sydney and Melbourne.

This role is based in our Melbourne studio, based in the iconic GPO building.

We specialise in custom made jewellery, including engagement and wedding rings, and sell loose diamonds and coloured gemstones. We use a variety of production methods, including CAD and handmaking. We don't do general repairs.

This role is focused on selling and designing custom made fine jewellery. You will be doing design appointments with customers, preparing quotes and sketches, work with our CAD team to design the pieces, and liaise with the customers from the initial appointment right through to final pick-up. You will be working closely with our team of bench jewellers who work in our open plan studio. The role will appeal to an outgoing person who enjoys dealing with people and working in a dynamic team environment. It is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business that is dedicated to ethical business practices (e.g. we are one of the only jewellers in Australia who are licenced to use Fairtrade metals).

Key requirements:

  • You MUST have a good technical knowledge of how jewellery is made. Ideally you will have gained this knowledge from working as a bench jeweller, but you may also be a jewellery designer or gemmologist who has been working alongside bench jewellers and through that gained a good understanding of how jewellery is made. It is insufficient to have only worked in a jewellery store as a sales person.
  • You must have the right personality to excel as a sales person, and you will need to have a flair and passion for selling custom-made fine jewellery. You must be confident and have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • You must be a team player. You will be working closely with the bench jewellers who end up making the pieces and you will need to have a consultative approach on technical aspects.
  • Given our focus on custom made jewellery, attention to detail is absolutely essential.
  • A good general knowledge of diamonds and coloured gemstones.
  • A high level of integrity, maturity and a strong work ethic.

An attractive salary will be offered for the right candidate in line with your experience. In addition, you’ll be part of a supportive and friendly team environment with hard working, fun and talented staff who are passionate about what they do.

If you think you have what it takes, please email your resume to susie@larsenjewellery.com.au. For more information about Larsen Jewellery, please have a look at our website www.larsenjewellery.com.au.
