An apprenticeship is a combination of on-the-job training and classroom education - commonly a Certificate III in Jewellery Manufacture. The apprentice will learn, from an employer, the skills needed for a particualr occupation or trade. The term of the apprenticeship depends on what state you undertake the apprenticeship in, they are between 4 and 5 year contracts. The classroom education is undertaken at registered training organisations around Australia, commonly TAFE institutes.

We suggest you try the following to find an apprenticeship:

  • Approach employers at companies you would like to work for. Visit the workplace and speak with the employer. They may offer you a trial and remember to leave a copy of your resume. Show your passion - take some drawings to show your design potential or pieces you have made.
  • Contact the TAFE campus which runs the course that is done in conjunction with the jewellery apprenticeship. Often employers looking for an apprentice will contact the TAFE and ask for an advertisement to be put up on the notice board.
  • You may also wish to place an advertisement on our website under Individual Advertisments, which gives you exposure to companies looking at taking on an apprentice.
